Jim Dale

Broadway, film, and television star Jim Dale—who won a Tony Award for his charismatic portrayal of the title role in the 1980 Cy Coleman musical Barnum—is bringing a special preview performance of his new one-man show to the Paley Center. This ninety-minute presentation, filled with music and recollections, will trace the versatile actor’s unique career—which began when Dale headlined in the music halls of Great Britain and subsequently starred in twelve of the popular Carry On films. In addition to his many acting appearances on and Off Broadway, Dale recently gained a whole new generation of fans as the voice of the Harry Potter audiobooks and the narrator of the ABC series Pushing Daisies.

  • Just saw Mr. Dale's incredible show yesterday afternoon at 2pm, and wanted to write to you at the Paley Center, and am hoping you can get a message to Mr. Dale to let him know how very much we enjoyed it...!

I have been a great admirer of Mr. Dale's work for many years, especially his turns in BARNUM and ME AND MY GIRL, and he has inspired my own work as a performer beyond words.

His charisma, style, wit, humor and ability to tell a story and convey emotion are the signs of a true Master, and his new One Man Show was a delightful display of all of these talents, and so much more...!

I hope you will let Mr. Dale know his show and performance were a huge success, and we look forward greatly to attending sometime again when it is fully produced...!

Thank you so much for conveying this message, and keep up the great work you are doing there at the Paley Center...!!

    Very Thankfully and Respectfully Submitted,

    ---Peter Riopelle
