Steven Brill
Cofounder, Journalism Online, LLC


Steven Brill is a cofounder of Journalism Online, LLC. This new company will offer an innovative system for newspaper, magazine, and other online publishers to realize revenue from the digital distribution of the original journalism they produce. Prior to this, he was the CEO of Verified Identity Pass, an airport security fast pass provider. Mr. Brill has written for New York and Harper's magazines and he later served as legal columnist for Esquire. He is the author of a best-selling book about the Teamsters Union. He founded The American Lawyer magazine, which soon expanded into a national chain of daily and weekly legal newspapers. In 1991, he launched Court TV, and later founded media magazine Brill's Content. In 2003, while serving as a Newsweek columnist and a consultant to NBC, Mr. Brill published AFTER, which focuses on the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.


Vivian Schiller
CEO, NPR


A media executive and journalist with more than 20 years experience in the industry, Vivian Schiller joined NPR as president and CEO on January 5, 2009. She comes to NPR from The New York Times Company where she served as senior vice president and general manager of NYTimes.com. Ms. Schiller oversees all NPR operations and initiatives, including the organization's critical partnerships with our 800+ member stations, and their service to the more than 26 million people who listen to NPR programming every week. Ms. Schiller is charged with assuring the fiscal and operational integrity of NPR, offering a clear and strong commitment to continuous strategic growth, and building the organization and its philanthropic base in ways that support the mission of NPR and stations. Before joining NYTimes.com, Ms. Schiller spent four years as senior vice president and general manager of the Discovery Times Channel, a joint venture of The New York Times and Discovery Communications. Under her leadership, Discovery Times Channel tripled its distribution while achieving critical acclaim for its award winning journalistic programming.
