This is the ninth edition of the Paley Center’s Documentary Festival, which continues to explore the art, craft, and history of the documentary genre. Since 2000, we have not only premiered exemplary films, but also created a dialogue between the public and the documentary community. We are also presenting two vital components that have become annual traditions: the Pitch Workshop and Youth Documentary Showcase.

This year we are presenting seven documentaries, new and classic, that testify to the strength and diversity of the art form. We have asked the filmmakers to give a short background to their work, discussing inspiration and challenges during production. We will continue the dialogue with the directors after the screening of their films.
