Welcome from Pat Mitchell

Welcome to the excitement of the announcement of the twenty-ninth annual William S. Paley Television Festival!

PaleyFest has become a must-attend pop culture event, creating a platform that connects fans with the casts and creative teams of their favorite television series. We’re pleased to continue the Festival’s tradition of excellence by welcoming the PaleyFest Class of 2012. Each of these unique series has made an impact on our global popular culture; and will help to shape the future of what we see on television around the world for years to come. From riveting dramas to innovative comedies, series honored at PaleyFest this year have a unique connection with their audiences. We’re excited to explore and enhance that connection with the community of PaleyFest fans over the course of the Festival.

One big new connection for fans this year is to offer you the PaleyFest experience on mobile devices. Download the app to get great photos of the shows, photos and videos of past PaleyFest evenings, mobile-only trivia questions, the ability to buy tickets to evenings, and to watch all the evenings that you are not at the Saban. We are partnering with Livestream so that for the first time fans far and near can participate in the events as they happen.

And we are happy to announce Hulu as a major Festival sponsor. With them as our partner we will be able to bring you on-demand streaming of nine of the evenings, so you can enjoy the events whenever you want.

If you aren’t a Paley Center Member, I encourage you to join and take advantage of a special discount Membership rate we are offering for Festivalgoers. More details about this are in the back of this brochure. We want you to be part of our community that enjoys vibrant discussions with stars and icons of media all year round at the Paley Center on Little Santa Monica & N. Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. And be sure to visit our newest attraction there, Television Out of the Box, a major exhibition highlighting TV history from 77 Sunset Strip to Friends, Smallville, and beyond, brought to you by our good friends at Warner Bros.

I am also very happy to acknowledge Netflix, back this year as an evening sponsor, as well as our other partners: Los Angeles Times, TV Guide Magazine, KROQ, LA Weekly, and American Airlines.

On behalf of the Los Angeles Board of Governors cochairs—Gordon Crawford, Leslie Moonves, Tony Vinciquerra, and Andrea Wong—welcome and enjoy the unique entertainment and experiences of PaleyFest.
