Actors from the Classical Theatre of Harlem perform a reading of Queen of Thebes, a new play by Arnold Rabin. The play is an imaginative interpretation of the Oedipus legend, focusing on Queen Jocasta. Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: SVU) portrays Jocasta, and the cast also includes the renowned dancer and choreographer Carmen De Lavallade, Duane Allen (Oedipus), Juanita Howard (Ida), Zainab Jah (The Sphinx), and Shayshahn MacPhearson (Musician). Queen of Thebes is directed by Alfred Preisser, artistic director of the Classical Theatre of Harlem. Following the reading of the ninety-minute play, there will be a Q&A with the creative team.
