On May 13, the Paley Center in Los Angeles partnered with NBC Universal for the world premiere screening of the new documentary Farrah’s Story, the emotional chronicle of Farrah Fawcett’s battle with cancer.

"This is truly Farrah's evening. She wasn't up to making it, but she's here in spirit," Alana Stewart, a close friend and the film’s producer, said while introducing the film. "Farrah's Story will show her incredible strength," Stewart noted—a sentiment echoed by the gathered audience including Fawcett’s longtime partner Ryan O'Neal and friends and well-wishers Melanie Griffith, Carrie Fisher, Jacqueline Bissett, and George Schlatter, among others.

The intensely personal documentary follows Fawcett as she undergoes chemotherapy and other grueling treatments for the cancer which was initially diagnosed in 2006. In video journals throughout the film Fawcett reveals her personal struggle: "Cancer is my own private war. The strain, the nausea, the fever take turns challenging my strength, my mind, and my spirit. I won't surrender. I want to live."

"Her big message to people is don't give up, no matter what they say to you, keep fighting," noted Stewart. The film was broadcast on NBC, Friday, May 15, and can also be viewed on the network’s website.
