"Fast, funny and full of energy, as a study of high-end magazine journalism at its most self-important, The September Issue is hard to beat." The Independent
In this engrossing documentary, R. J. Cutler goes behind the iconic sunglasses of legendary fashion editor Anna Wintour to reveal the inner workings of her influential magazine, Vogue. With unprecedented access, this cinema-verite film follows Wintour and her passionate staff through the nine months leading up to the printing of their highly anticipated September issue. Cutler focuses on the dynamic relationship between Wintour and her inimitable creative director Grace Coddington as they strive to remain the fashion industry leader in taste and style. The September Issue gives an insider’s view of Fashion Week, photography shoots in Europe, and closed-door meetings that make fashion such a glamorous and arduous business. The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker R. J. Cutler.
The Paley Center will also offer screenings of R. J. Cutler's previous film and television work, from Thursday, August 6, to Sunday, August 9.
