Forty years later, the three-day music festival on Max Yasgur’s farm has secured a place in American mythology. Academy Award winner Barbara Kopple’s new documentary, Woodstock: Now & Then, compellingly reveals why the generation-defining festival is still relevant today. She not only re-creates the 1969 experience with firsthand accounts of musicians, attendees, and promoters, but also examines the festival’s legacy through the eyes of today’s musicians. The documentary gives those who were there a chance to relive the iconic music mixed in with a little mud and a new generation to understand what was special about that time. After the screening, Kopple, festival organizer Michael Lang, and other participants will discuss the enduring impact of Woodstock.
Woodstock: Now & Then will be seen on Friday, August 14 at 9:00 pm on VH1 and VH1 Classic and on Monday, August 17 at 8:00 pm on History.
