An Evening with BET's American Soul

Feb 19, 2019
7:30 PM ET
New York

Inspired by Soul Train, one of the most influential music and dance series of all time, American Soul dramatically chronicles the untold challenges that were faced to make that series happen. Filled with the music, fashion, and glamour of the seventies—while seamlessly blending fictional and real-life characters—this BET series follows the journey of the young and ambitious Don Cornelius (Sinqua Walls), who sacrifices everything to create the first nationally syndicated Black music series. After previewing an episode of the series, the executive producer with the cast will discuss how they brought the seventies back to life so vividly.

This event is part of the Paley Center’s multifaceted Black History Month celebration, Shaping Our Nation’s Story: African-American Achievements in Television Presented by Citi.
