Summary
This sports radio broadcast features some of the most memorable play-by-play calls by Harry Kalas, the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies, from the 1993 season. Highlights include: first baseman John Kruk beats out a throw to first base and allows a run to score; Milt Thompson is thrown out at the plate attempting to score on Wes Chamberlain's double; in the first game of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) against the Atlanta Braves, Ken Battiese makes up for an error earlier in the game with a hit to win the game; outfielder Lenny Dykstra hits a home run during that series; Mickey Morendini starts a double play that ends the game and brings the NLCS to two games apiece; Pete Incavilia makes a diving catch to end an inning; Dykstra hits his second home run of the NLCS in the tenth inning to put the Phillies ahead by one run; pitcher Larry Anderson retires the last three Atlanta batters and the Phillies take a three-games-to-two lead in the series; relief pitcher Matt Williams finishes off the Braves, and the Phillies win the NLCS and head for the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays; Kruk gives the Phillies an early lead with a single to score Dykstra; Dykstra continues his hot hitting with another home run to extend a lead; the Phillies win the second game of the series; Thompson hits a three-run triple; Dykstra does it again with a two-run home run; and Kruk makes an outstanding double play on a bunt attempt. The last two highlights are flashbacks and include: Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt hitting his five-hundreth career home run; and third baseman Charlie Hayes making an incredible catch to preserve the first no-hitter in the history of Veteran's Stadium for Terry Mulholland.
