AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE: ANDRE'S MOTHER (TV)

Summary

One in this dramatic anthology series. "Andre's Mother" opens at the memorial service of Katherine Gerard's young son, Andre, the latest casualty of the AIDS epidemic. Through a series flashbacks brought on by the many remembrances of her son at the service, Katherine reviews her relationships with Andre, Andre's lover Cal, and her own mother, and realizes that a common pattern of denial, silence, and distance exists between all of them. But Cal chooses to break through these barriers and begins to express his sorrow to Katherine, who realizes by the end of the day that she must learn to share her pain rather than hide it.
