HALLMARK HALL OF FAME: THE LITTLE FOXES (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. This television adaptation of Lillian Hellman's play exposes the underlying greed and treachery of a Southern family's struggle for wealth and power at the expense of decency and their own happiness. Regina and her brothers plan to make their fortune in an exploitive cotton mill deal. Trouble ensues when Horace, Regina's husband, refuses to back the scheme.

Regina allows Horace to die from a heart attack by not coming to his aid. At the play's end, she is the lonely victor, succeeding at the cost of her brothers' trust, her husband's life, and her daughter's love. Includes commercials. (This is a black-and-white copy of a color telecast.)

("Hallmark Hall of Fame" aired on NBC from 1952 to 1978; network affiliation varies after 1978.)

From 1952 to 1955 Hallmark also presented "Hallmark Hall of Fame," a weekly half-hour or hour-long dramatic anthology series, usually hosted by Sarah Churchill. The first program, "Dr. Serocold," was televised in January 1952 under the title "Hallmark Television Theatre." This series also ran under the title "Hallmark Summer Theatre" in July and August 1952.)
