Summary

The first of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Tom and Charlie argue about the legality of homosexuality, leading Ed to bemoan his closeted life. He tries to convince Howard to marry him so that they can live life as an openly gay couple, but both Howard and Betty are wary of such a bold step. Meanwhile, Mary continues to look for forgiveness for her transgressions with Dennis but has difficulty confessing to Loretta what she has done. Loretta enlists the aid of the Reverend Jimmy Joe, and Mary grudgingly agrees to pray with him, hoping that his connection to God will bring her absolution. Commercials deleted.
