STRIKE IT RICH (TV)
Summary
One in this series of quiz programs hosted by Warren Hull. The format, a source of controversy during the show's run, involves needy contestants pitching their tales of hard luck and misfortune and then gambling for cash prizes by answering a series of questions posed by Hull. Contestants in this episode include: a woman who wants to win enough money to have her husband's embarrassing tattoo removed; a policeman who wants to pay off his debts before entering the Marines; and an impoverished couple who need assistance to provide for their baby twins. In the celebrity segment, Ralph Bellamy responds to a request made by a viewer unable to attend the program; in this case, a cancer-stricken woman from Needville, Texas who cannot afford to buy Christmas presents for her children. Includes commercials. (The series aired as follows: CBS-TV, daytime, 1951-1958; and CBS-TV, primetime, 1951-1955.)
