MATCH GAME (TV)
Summary
One in this series of game shows where contestants finish sentences with a word or phrase, hoping to match answers with a panel of six celebrities. The results are often comical. Host Gene Rayburn presides over a panel composed of actors Bill Daily, Brett Summers, Dolly Martin, McLean Stevenson, Betty White, and raconteur Charles Nelson Reilly. When a female contestant wins $5000 in the first round, her husband in the audience gives her permission to kiss both Daily and Stevenson, who were critical to her triumph. The second match is abruptly halted as time expires. The program concludes as host Rayburn and Daily feel each other's suits, comparing the texture of the two fabrics.
(Network affiliation and title vary; this series also aired on NBC from 1962-1969, on CBS from 1973-1979, as part of "The Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour" on NBC from 1983-1984, and in separate syndicated versions in 1985 and 1990.)
