Cronkite Remembered

The Paley Center for Media mourns the loss of one of its longtime friends, Walter Cronkite. We worked closely with him in building a definitive collection of his work, which now totals more than 550 programs. Walter participated in numerous Paley Center seminars and events (when we were The Museum of Broadcasting/MTR), including a three-part series in 1985 (watch clips below). He most recently discussed his career here in 2003. All of the Cronkite programs in our permanent collection are available for private screening in the library.

Paley Center Screenings

CBS Special: Cronkite Remembers
July 22 to August 2, 2009
Screening in New York Wednesdays to Sundays at 3:45 pm
Screening in Los Angeles Wednesdays to Sundays at 3:00 pm

Cronkite Remembers is one of the most intimate portraits of the legendary anchorman. The documentary gives not only a nice overview of Cronkite’s professional career, but also a glimpse of the private man discussing his hobbies and favorite pastimes. The program also includes the exemplary highlights of Cronkite’s work, including the Kennedy assassination, coverage of political conventions, and his reporting of the space program. (1996; 95 minutes)
