Class Description

This class encourages students to delve deeper into the study of civil rights by examining the role media played in facilitating the passage of the Voting Rights Act. A remarkable collection of recorded history on the Selma march and other events leading up to this historically significant moment will be screened and discussed in order to show how the Act transformed the political landscape of the South and laid the foundation for future presidential elections.
