FOX’s America’s Most Wanted—a pioneer in the evolution of the modern reality show now in its 23rd season—has aided in the capture of more than 1,100 serial killers, child abductors, escaped convicts, and other fugitives. John Walsh, whose own six-year-old son, Adam, was abducted and murdered in 1981 (the subject of a 1983 television movie), has been at the helm from the start, and beyond that has been a leading advocate for children’s and victim’s rights, even lobbying for the 2006 child protection and safety act that bears his son’s name. As America’s Most Wanted celebrates its 1,000th episode, join Walsh and moderator Geraldo Rivera for a discussion of the stories behind many of the show’s biggest captures and highlights, as well as some of its deepest frustrations over fugitives who remain at large.
