American Playhouse: Story of a Marriage, Part 1: “Courtship"

In conjunction with the Primary Stages Off-Broadway production of Harrison, TX: Three Plays by Horton Foote—which runs from July 24 to September 15 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters—The Paley Center for Media is screening teleplays by the Oscar, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize–winning writer, who died in 2009 at the age of 92.

 

American Playhouse: Story of a Marriage, Part 1: “Courtship”

With Hallie Foote, Amanda Plummer, Rochelle Oliver, Michael Higgins, and William Converse-Roberts. A young woman falls in love with a traveling salesman and makes plans to spend her life with him—in defiance of the wishes of her straitlaced parents. Dir: Howard Cummings (1987; PBS; 90 minutes)
