Family Screenings in the Second Floor Theater

May 1 to 31, 2024

We are pleased to screen television programming for the entire family in the month of May at The Paley Museum. The day will begin with programming suitable for younger audiences, including Samurai Jack: The Movie, The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo, and Fresh Off the Boat, and will continue with programming for teenagers and adults including The Green Hornet, The Mindy Project, Quantico, and others.

On Wed., May 1, the Second Floor theater screenings will start at 3:00 pm.
On Thu., May 9, the Second Floor theater screenings will end at 3:30 pm.

Samurai Jack: The Movie

In ancient Japan, a samurai warrior begins on a journey to defeat an evil wizard named Aku. He travels thousands of years into the future to find Aku has control over all the land. The samurai takes the name Jack and returns to his own time where he sets out to defeat Aku and save the future from his terrible power. (2001)

The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo: “Fool’s Gold”

In this episode, teenager Shelby Woo uses her talents as an amateur sleuth to help solve the mystery of a missing gold coin. Shelby and her friends interview suspects, including a suspicious boat captain and a rare coin collector from England who suddenly decides she must return home to England. However, Shelby realizes the one person she didn’t interview as a suspect should have been at the top of her list. (1996)

Fresh Off the Boat: “Coming From America”

In this episode, the Huang family travels to Taiwan to attend the wedding of Louis’s brother Gene (Ken Jeong). Louis is envious of Gene’s lavish lifestyle, and Jessica finds much is different from her memories of her home country. Meanwhile, Eddie has trouble finding a fax machine to stay in touch with his girlfriend Alison during the trip. (2016)

The Green Hornet: “The Silent Gun”

In the series premiere of The Green Hornet we are introduced to Britt Reid, editor and publisher of The Daily Sentinel, who fights crime as the Green Hornet, and Kato, his valet and crime-fighting partner. In this episode, the Green Hornet and Kato must solve the murder of a man who was shot at a party, but no one heard gunfire. (1966)

Dr. Ken: “Allison’s Career Move”

In this episode, Pat thinks Allison would be a good fit for a job at the medical office Welltopia, but Ken isn’t thrilled with the idea of working in the same office as his wife. Molly is nervous to show her SAT scores to her parents, so her brother Dave helps her find a way to conceal them. Meanwhile, Clark doesn’t understand what his boyfriend’s job is, so he asks Damona to help him figure it out. (2016)

The Mindy Project: “Mindy’s Birthday”

In this episode, Mindy’s friends and coworkers throw her a surprise birthday party, but Mindy is crushed when her friends gift her things that remind her she is single. She runs away from the party and her friends set out to look for her. During the search, Jeremy and Danny compete for the attention of Mindy’s friend Alex, landing Danny in the hospital and the gang reuniting for a birthday celebration re-do. (2013)

Elementary: “Pilot”

In the series premiere, former addict Sherlock Holmes escapes from a rehabilitation center on his release day to help Captain Gregson, a former colleague at Scotland Yard, locate a woman who they believe to have been kidnapped. Holmes is accompanied by Jane Watson, a former surgeon hired by Sherlock’s father to serve as his sobriety companion. When the team finds the missing woman’s body, Sherlock suspects they are dealing with a serial killer. (2013)

Quantico: “Kudove”

In this episode, Alex Parrish becomes suspicious of a group of white vans while walking through the Financial District in New York City. The vans drive together and blow-up intersections that block off the District, trapping people inside. Meanwhile, Ryan and Raina are at Federal Hall in Lower Manhattan for the G-20 Summit, which becomes a target for a terrorist group. In a series of flashbacks, Alex has been recruited by the FBI as an undercover agent to spy on the Farm, the CIA’s training camp. She learns her boyfriend Ryan is also undercover, but the two cannot reveal their romantic relationship for fear of their true identities being revealed. (2013)
