June 19, 2010: Special Screening

The Mothers-In-Law

Despite running for only two, all-too-brief seasons, The Mothers-in-Law established itself as one of the funniest sitcoms of the 1960s. Headliners Eve Arden and Kaye Ballard created some memorable moments in television, such as the women getting stuck on top of an automatic garage door while spying on their children. The series was produced and usually directed by Desi Arnaz, and created by I Love Lucy writers Madelyn Davis and Bob Carroll Jr., which illustrates that some of the top names in the field of comedy were associated with it. In addition to its cast of regulars, guest stars included Arnaz, Jimmy Durante, Ozzie Nelson, Paul Lynde, and Don Rickles, as well as early appearances for Rob Reiner and Teri Garr. The program has been rarely seen in recent years and the much anticipated complete DVD set will be released on July 27. The Paley Center hosts a screening of some of those episodes.

Screenings are free but please RSVP below.
