Beyond Disruption

Under the theme Beyond Disruption, IC2011 LA focused on the emergence of new models and markets as technology transformed the media landscape, and featured intimate conversations with an exceptional lineup of industry leaders, including Juan Luis Cebrian of Grupo Prisa; Peter Chernin of The Chernin Group/CA Media; Adriana Cisneros of Grupo Cisneros; Barry Diller of IAC; Tom Freston of Firefly3, LLC; Marissa Mayer of Google; Jon Miller of  News Corp.; Saad Mohseni of Moby Group; Leslie Moonves of CBS Corporation; Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook; Anne Sweeney of The Walt Disney Co.; and Lauren Zalaznick of NBCUniversal, among others.

The location of this year's IC summit represented a natural meeting point for media leaders from outside the U.S. to connect with Hollywood and Silicon Valley executives. And with the largest Spanish-language TV audience in the U.S., Los Angeles is an appropriate market in which to consider the growth of Hispanic media worldwide. 

In addition to keynote conversations with established media leaders, IC2011 LA also showcased digital media startups and spotlighted rising entrepreneurs during sessions inspired by the Paley Center's Next Big Thing series and its new Generator member community.

"Since 1995, long before 'disruption' became the buzzword it is today, the Paley Center's International Council has convened annually to explore the ways in which technology is changing the media industry," said Pat Mitchell, president and chief executive officer of The Paley Center for Media, prior to the summit. "The leaders and innovators we've invited to this year's summit understand that dramatic, industry-wide transformation is the new normal. IC2011 LA is where they will find the common ground to identify the opportunities amid the disruption and chart the way forward together."
