The Paley Center for Media Announces New Summer TV Festival - PaleyFest Rewind

Los Angeles, CA- The Paley Center for Media launches its inaugural pop culture summertime celebration, PaleyFest Rewind featuring classic shows and stars of the '50s, '60s, '70s, and beyond. Held at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills starting June 15 through 21, the week-long festival will feature cast reunions, world premieres, rare archive screenings, and more. Partnering with TV Guide Magazine, the Paley Center will showcase a special collection of rare TV Guide Magazine covers featuring many of the classic television programs and personalities being celebrated at the Festival including Leave it to Beaver, My Three Sons, David Cassidy, Room 222, and That's Life.
Kicking off PaleyFest Rewind on June 15 is the forty-fifth anniversary celebration of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, the 1965 TV classic starring Lesley Ann Warren, which was re-broadcast annually for the next ten years. Warren will be joined by other members of the cast and creative team of this special salute. Wednesday takes us back to Room 222 at Walt Whitman High School with Emmy-winner Karen Valentine, Denise Nicholas, and others from the groundbreaking series created by James L. Brooks.
The Paley Center is pleased to host the world premiere of legendary entertainment reporter Rona Barrett's one-woman show, Rona Barrett: Nothing But The Truth on June 17. This special performance will feature clips of Barrett interviewing famous celebrities such as Cher, Bette Davis, Carol Burnett, John Wayne, as well as her personal inspirational journey from Queens to Hollywood.
With Glee dominating the pop culture landscape, the Paley Center takes a look back at one of the most imaginative and ambitious musical series of the ‘60s, ABC's That's Life. Starring Robert Morse (Mad Men) and E.J. Peaker (Hello Dolly) and a bevy of guest stars including Liza Minnelli, Paul Lynde, Mahalia Jackson, Sid Caesar, and many more, the lost classic lasted only one season, but it's filled with first-rate musical moments.
On Saturday, June 19, the Paley Center revisits My Three Sons celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year with the cast and creative team discussing its lasting influence on prime-time television. Closing PaleyFest Rewind is Leave It to Beaver: TV's Favorite Family on June 21 with Beaver and Wally themselves, Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow, looking back at the iconic family sitcom.
Rare screenings of classic TV shows will be a centerpiece of the retro television festival starting at 12:30 p.m. on June 18 and June 19. Screenings include Truman's Capote's Laura (1968), the rarely seen adaptation starring Lee Bouvier Radziwill and Robert Stack - courtesy of the David Susskind Archive; The Mother's-in-Law (1967), the classic sitcom starring Eve Arden and Kaye Ballard - courtesy of Jim Pierson & MPI Home Video; ‘60s Sitcoms Rediscovered: Love on a Rooftop (1966) starring a pre-Laugh In Judy Carne and Peter Deuel (Alias Smith & Jones) with Rich Little - courtesy of Sony Pictures Television; and Police Story: A Chance to Live (1979) starring David Cassidy (who was nominated for an Emmy for this first post- Partridge Family role) and Dee Wallace - courtesy of Sony Pictures Television. On Fathers' Day (June 20) starting at 12:30 p.m., the Paley Center will revisit classic TV Dads such at Ward Cleaver, Homer Simpson, and Al Bundy as well as showcasing classic TV cars from Starsky & Hutch, Dukes of Hazzard, and Knight Rider. The Paley Center is offering PaleyFest Rewind Premium Ticket Package priced at $250 each that will go on sale Thursday, May 20, at 9:00 a.m. PST at paleycenter.org. PaleyFest Rewind Premium Ticket Package includes two tickets to ten PaleyFest Rewind events (five panels and five special screenings); two tickets to the VIP After-Party following the Room 222 panel on May 16; Concession package for five PaleyFest Rewind panel events; two reserved premium seats for five PaleyFest Rewind panel events; two PaleyFest Rewind souvenir lanyards; parking for one vehicle at five PaleyFest Rewind panel events.
