Al Jazeera and other Middle Eastern satellite stations have transformed Arab politics and culture significantly over the last decade. In his book Voices of the New Arab Public: Iraq, Al-Jazeera, and Middle East Politics Today, Marc Lynch, professor of political science at Williams College, examines the impact of satellite television on the Arab world. In this 2006 interview with Mother Jones magazine, Lynch illuminates the evolution and influence of this new Arab public sphere.
