Summary

A variety program "covering the arts and skills of many ages and countries." In a visit with Benton and his family and their guest (Rains), the Bentons show how they spend their evenings: Benton reads from "Huckleberry Finn" and Rains from Carl Sandburg's poems. Cooke describes movie theatres of the silent era and presents the 1914 silent film, "While the Tide Was Rising."

Presents segment from Roberto Rossellini's "The Little Flowers of St. Francis," a film about Saint Francis of Assisi. The history and process of paper making is shown. The Benny Goodman Trio, with Gene Krupa and Teddy Wilson, reunites to play jazz favorites, including "Nice Work If You Can Get It," "Memories of You," and "The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise." Includes commercials.
