Summary
Part six of this 10-part series of documentaries concerning the role man plays in the society of nature and the process of evolution. In this part, host David Bellamy, a biologist, visits the equatorial region in Ecuador to examine its environmental diversity and the adaptability of local plants and animals. Highlights of this part include footage and discussion of the following: tropical forest plants; the hummingbird and pollination; bamboo; plant diversity on a local mountainside; a cloud forest higher up along the mountainside; the quinine plant; an Andean market; fertile farmland and crop diversity; and plant life at 4,000 meters and 5,000 meters above sea level.
