“This has all happened before. And it will happen again.”

Now that Battlestar Galactica—itself a reimagined version of a 1970s TV space opera—has dry-docked, we turn our attention to Caprica, a BSG prequel scheduled to debut on DVD in April and on Sci Fi Channel in 2010. Set fifty years before the nuclear apocalypse that opened Galactica, Caprica follows two families—the Graystones and the Adamas (particularly Bill’s “old man” Joseph)—as they feud over the creation of cybernetic life forms, marrying artificial intelligence with mechanical bodies, aka, Cylons. Like BSG, Caprica is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, plus Remi Aubuchon.

This event brings together cast and creative team members from both shows and features a premiere screening of Caprica.

An Open Letter to Admiral William Adama

I may be in the minority on this, but Admiral William Adama (Edward James Olmos) infuriated me at the end of last Friday's episode of "Battlestar Galactica." (spoiler alert!)

  • This is a question for all panelists at the BSG Paleyfest event.

As the credits of Battlestar's final episode began to roll, I sat on my couch stunned and speechless. All of us who had gathered to watch the finale were so overwhelmed by what we had seen, that we just couldn't react. It took me personally two weeks before I could sit and rewatch the finale, mostly because I needed to come to terms with the series actually ending, and also because I needed to really take in the finale and decide how I felt. Needless to say, I loved it, and I am still haunted by where we were taken, by Kara's exit, and by the amazing final hour. My question I guess would be to everyone but Ron Moore, what was your initial reaction after first reading the script or watching the finale? and Ron, what's your reaction to everyone's reaction?

  • This is a question for Ron Moore and David Eick -

I have heard that Glen Larsen still holds the rights for any feature films based on Galactica.  I understand that you've concluded your story, but is there any chance that this incarnation - the "reimagined Battlestar Galactica" - with this group of actors and creators might make it to the Big Screen?

It seems like there is already a built in audience and constituency for such a project.  And I'm sure there must be other stories to tell about these characters.

  • Keep your fingers crossed and maybe next year we will be able to pull off an "Angel" reunion.

  • Thank you for the response David and yes it is a nod to Faith, I already have my Dollhouse tickets bought and everything, last year I was hoping to see her in the Buffy Reunion panel but she could not be there so hopefully this year will be different because she must show up for her own show!  And I have my  Battlestar Galactica tickets ready as well, this year should be a terrific one at the Paley Festival!!

  • Hi, 5by5forever (is your name a nod to Faith?). We're expecting stars from both BSG and Caprica, and will post their names as soon as they become available.

  • this is a comment and a question to the Paley Center for the Battlestar Galactica event.  Are any of the stars of the show expected to attend, I know with filming schedules you never know and not that it would be bad to see the great minds that brought this show back to life, but having panelists from the cast would make this event so much more amazing!
