Sexy and twisted, True Blood has enlivened the vampire saga with the undead coming out of the coffin and demanding equal rights. Adapted from The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris, creator Alan Ball has infused his HBO series with creepy Gothic romanticism and bloody good fun, serving up his idiosyncratic “popcorn for smart people.” Murder and mystery abound in Ball’s swampy Louisiana town after telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (played to Golden Globe perfection by Anna Paquin) falls for the 173 year old, but still hot vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). With blasts of comedy and fantasy, True Blood tries to determine if humans and vampires can coexist.

Expert Commentary

Barnabas Collins, True Blood-Sucker

True Blood's Stephen Moyer and Twilight's Edward Cullen may be the vampires of the moment, but if you ask me, no blood-sucking Nosferatu will ever hold a candle to the great Barnabas Collins...

  • To all the cast, Alan, and the creative team,

Thank you for bring the Sookie Stackhouse novels to life.  All of you do such a wonderful job, and it is nice to see some of the favorite characters in the books, like Tara and Jason, take on a bigger roll in the show....

My question is for Ryan Kwanten,

1st: What do you like best about playing Jason Stackhouse??

And 2nd:  Will we see more depth to Jason's character in the coming seasons??

    Thanks!

  • This question is for Mr. Ball,

I admit I am a bookie, but I was a TB fan first. After reading the entire books series to date in 9 days I have to commend you for creating such an amazing piece of work. I understand that your vision is different then Ms. Harris'. Having said that

Have you considered taking critical Eric moments, like Eric's staking of Long Shadow, and giving them to Bill will fundamentally change the audience's view of who Eric really is?

    Thank You,

    Laura Boothby

  • Question for Alan Ball: When you look back as Season 1 episodes, are there scenes or entire episodes you wish you'd done differently?  If so, which are they and why?

  • Will the vamps be able to demonstrate any of their supe powers this season. I’m especially referring to Bill levitating. I know this was not possible the first season, but wonder whether this has changed. Not asking for super special effects,  just on the scale of Sam's changes from Sam to Dean.

  • Questions for Rutina Wesley:

(1)What is your fondest wish for Tara in Season 2?

(2)Everyone has a list of Tara's worst qualities. What do you think are Tara's best qualities?

(3)Do any parts of Tara's bold personality coincide with your own? When you find that you need to be brave and assertive, do you ever think "WWTD - What would Tara do?"

  • First of all, I must begin by announcing to the world that I am such a lunatic for this show!  An amazing performance by all!

This question is for Stephen Moyer: Re:  The graveyard scene.  (Now don't be embarrassed, it's only a question about the dirt).  I would like to know if it was actual dirt or was it some sort of fake dirt.  Like maybe crushed up Oreo's or something.  I really cringed when Anna planted one on your dirty kisser.  Not that I would shy away from such, but it took courage on her part if it really was dirt.

    Just wondering in Georgia.

  • Please Mr. Ball: Love your work and look forward to what the future holds. I have one concern however that I would love to hear you address. Hailing from the south, Chattanooga, Tennessee and having family in Shreveport,Louisiana. I know we, the general viewing audience,  have become accustomed to the usual depiction of the "southern dialect" and it's abuse in most of popular television. However, with you hailing from the south,Marietta, Georgia, our very close southern neighbor, what is your take on the "south" and the viewers here impressions of how the southern dialect is being represented on this particular show? Thanks so much!

  • Question for Stephen Moyer:  If you had a wish-list for the evolution of the Bill Compton character, what 3 items would be on the list?

  • Question for Nelsan Ellis:

    1) Did you ever hope that the Lafayette character would be turned (vampire)? If not, why not?

    2) Part of your youth was spent living in Alabama.  Do you feel  that any particular aspect(s) of True Blood are especially authentic expressions  of  Southern  life?

Last but not least, congratulations on your recent role in The Soloist. I cannot wait to see the film.
