Fox’s Bones is—generically at least—a procedural drama centering on an FBI agent and the forensics anthropologist who helps him solve cases, but the real science here is chemistry, as in the crackling interplay between these two characters, and the charismatic actors who portray them. Emily Deschanel is the brilliant-but-socially-inept Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan; David Boreanaz is Agent Seeley Booth. While Bones hews to convention with a compelling crime-based mystery every week, the attraction is the mystery of the human heart, particularly the emotional awakening of Brennan as she falls deeper and deeper in love with the intuitive, socially facile Booth. The combination has proved beguiling, as Bones is in the midst of season seven. The series was created by Hart Hanson, and inspired by the life of forensic anthropologist/author Kathy Reichs, who serves as producer.

  • 1. Will we ever get a Booth and Bones sex scene? Right now it's a bit like the X-Files... Mulder and Scully had sex and got pregnant, and we never got a sex scene! Even though the Dave and Maddie relationship fell to pieces, at least the viewers were treated to the long-awaited bedroom scenes!

    2. Are there any plans to bring Zack back for a few more episodes?

    3. So far I think the writers have done a good job with the Bones/Booth relationship. Are you conscious of avoiding the perils that usually destroy a long-desired tv romance between the two main stars (i.e. Dave and Maddie, Sam and Diane, Mulder and Scully (during the tv series), House and Cuddy, etc.)?

  • 1. Do any of you have a background in science/biology/anatomy or do you find that you have to look up all of the terminology just to know what you are talking about?

    2. I really love this show.  I have a background in zoology/biology, so I just wanted to thank the writers for showing how cool science can be.  I find myself identifying with all of the characters in some way.  Like Bones, I have been known to compare real life situations to small tribal communities and like Hodgins, I love bugs.  I love seeing how Hodgin's character lights up whenever there is a new bug for him to identify or slime mold to investigate and was especially impressed by the down home knowledge necessary to spook a snake into giving up some evidence. It's just fun to watch!!!  This has always been a show that my husband and I have been able to watch together.  So, THANK YOU!!!

  • To Hart, Stephen, and/or John: Ever since the Mayhem on a Cross episode back in season 4, I've been wondering if we were ever going to get more insight into Sweets' childhood. Is that going to happen at some point soon?

  • Do you have anything big planned for the 150th episode in season 8

(Like flashback to the start of booth and Bones relationship)

Will you deal with Booths mother in season 8 everyone wants to know her story

From a big fan in the UK

  • To John, Hart and  Stephen:

I enjoyed all the darker storyline over the last 3 years that probed deeper into Dr. Sweets' character. I admire John's dramatic work very much and can't wait to see even more of that side of his character. So my question is: are we going to see a darker Sweets-centric story line/ arc soon ?

  • To Hart and/or Emily:  Do you ever go back and watch episodes from the early seasons?  What are your thoughts about the changes in Brennan over the years?

    Nora B, March 06, 2012 at 9:40 am

  • To Emily: Booth thinks that Brennan will be the one to propose to him. How do you think Brennan would pop the question to him?!
