ABC’s Castle is much more than the obvious: a dramedy police procedural with shades of Sam Spade. It’s an imaginative universe of characters who create characters who cross over TV, novels, and graphic novels. On TV, writer Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) starts working with the NYPD when into his life walks Det. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). He’s inspired to write a series of “Nikki Heat” novels based on Beckett and her “real” squad, and so continues to work cases with them. Castle’s three Nikki Heat books have all been on the RL New York Times best-seller list, an unusual achievement for a TV character. The center of the series is the charisma between Castle and Beckett—thus-far UST with playful “good cop/no cop” humor and genuine emotion—wrapped around complex mystery plots in a stylized New York.

To Andrew
Before the end of the season, will we be getting more info about Castle's father?

I'm just wondering whether there are any plans in the future for Rick to become some kind of official cop (get his own badge, gun, etc)? It just seems like such an obvious direction.

To the whole cast:
Hello! So you all must realise from your Twitter followers that Castle is extremely popular throughout the world and my question is, if you had the opportunity, what country (other than the USA) would you like to film an episode in and why?

Forgot to note that my question was for Andrew Marlowe so I'll just repost it.
The show has always made it obvious, even before "The Blue Butterfly," that you were a fan of both the old hardboiled detective novels/stories and the films they inspired. As a fellow fan of these works, I was wondering if there were any more specific inspirations for the series?

Question for Andrew Marlowe:
I would like to start by saying that casting Stana Katic for the role of Kate Beckett was a fabulous choice. I have read that while searching for a female co-star for the show, it was felt that this person needed to have the proper chemistry with Nathan Fillion. I don't think anyone would dispute the fact that this chemistry certainly exists, but what I personally feel is the most impressive aspect of Stana's acting is her ability to say so much without uttering a word. Two superb examples of this are:
In the Pilot Episode - The scene where Castle, only having just met Beckett, narrates her entire life story of why she became a cop. Before he begins, she is looking very smug. By the time he's finished, she looks to be fighting back tears.
Final Episode of Season 2 - The scene when Castle shows up at the Precinct in the morning with only 1 cup of coffee. Her facial expression was absolutely priceless.
I wondered whether this ability came through during the casting and how much it weighed in your decision to cast Stana in the role?

Re Gates: fans need to learn more about her. What's her backstory (aside from "daddy was a cop"?) Was she appointed by the mayor? Does she have a clue of what happened to Montgomery? I know this is "just TV" but it seems that when a police captain dies, there are consequences beyond "let's not tell anyone." Either way there are implications... Gates will either find out because she's smart, or she's in on the conspiracy that threatens Kate's life. I"ve noticed that sometimes she encourages her staff to dig deep, other times she backs off of investigation for what feels like political reasons. What's her angle?
I love all the actors in this show and appreciate how very hard everyone works to bring some fun, romance, and adventure into our humdrum little lives.... :-D

Here's a few questions from me (for either Andrew or the respective actors referenced) ... if just one of these is answered I'd be thrilled. ;-)
Thanks and I really wish I lived in L.A. so I could go to this event!! I actually contemplated buying tickets for a minute, but then quickly realized that making the 5 1/2 hour drive would require an overnight stay and someone to dogsit for us for a couple days ... and then backed off the idea. Bummed. :-(

Do Castle and Beckett have empathy for each other? If so, how might it be expressed in the up coming episodes?
