The New Normal

One of the most talked about series of the new television season, The New Normal is a comedy with a message: "a family is a family and love is love." David (Justin Bartha) and Bryan (Andrew Rannells) hire Goldie (Georgia King) to be their child's surrogate mother. Goldie, however, does not come unattached. She has a wise-beyond-her-years daughter (Bebe Wood) with a knack for impersonating Little Edie Beale and an opinionated grandmother (Ellen Barkin) who disapproves of all that is around her. Bryan's personal assistant Rocky (NeNe Leakes) rounds out the family. With its mix of wit, poignancy, political humor, and outrageousness, this series, created by Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler, has drawn comparisons to the classic comedies of Norman Lear and Woody Allen.
