'60s Sitcoms Rediscovered: Love on a Rooftop

Championed by TV Guide critic Cleveland Amory for its “fine inventiveness” and “splendid acting,” Love on a Rooftop was a charming addition to the 1966–67 television season. The story of two newlyweds sharing a hole-in-the-wall San Francisco apartment with an adjacent stairway leading to a rooftop, this romantic comedy starred a pre-Laugh-In Judy Carne and Peter Deuel. Little seen for decades, the Paley Center will host a screening of the pilot and the season premiere.

Screenings are free but please RSVP below.

  • I loved this show!!!  Peter was just great...I hope this gets released on DVD soon.  Wish I could be there, but I live in Maryland.  Thanks though for doing the screening and hopefully this interest will help to get it released.

  • Would love to be there for the screening of LOART but live in Ireland.

I'm hoping that the series will be re-released so that a wider audience can enjoy this wonderful comedy.

  • Clarification: The correct spelling of Peter's last name is Deuel. He later dropped the "e" and became Duel, but this series' credits use the original spelling.

  • I am so excited that Love on a Rooftop is part of the PaleyFest Rewind Classic TV Festival!  I've made my reservations and am looking forward to seeing the remastered episodes, hopefully as a taste of getting the entire series released on DVD.  This was such a great show, with inspired writing and wonderful performances from a very talented cast.  In my opinion, this is some of Pete Duel's very best work, and as a fan, having this series released on DVD would be a long held dream come true.  Thank you so much for bringing attention to this very deserving show!

  • I would SO love to be there for the screening of LOART but unfortunately live in the Seattle area and will be unable to make it that day.  I'm hoping that in time that series will be released to DVD so all Peter Deuel fans can once again enjoy his performances in this comedy.  I know I'd be first in line to purchased it!
