The San Francisco–based Words on Dance interview series comes to New York in this first live collaboration with the Paley Center (following a sold-out Paley Center screening in November of a filmed WOD interview with Maria Tallchief).

Join us for an evening of conversation and television clips as prima ballerina Cynthia Gregory talks to dancer and prolific choreographer Eliot Feld about his long and unique career, from his debut in Balanchine’s Nutcracker and his performances in both the Broadway and film versions of West Side Story to the diverse ballets he has choreographed for his own Ballet Tech Company (formerly Feld Ballets/NY) and companies around the world—as well as the Ballet Tech School, the tuition-free school he founded in 1978, which to date has enrolled 17,240 New York City public school students.

Clips from both Ms. Gregory and Mr. Feld’s career will be shown, including rare footage from their private collections.

In collaboration with the San Francisco–based Words on Dance interview series.

  • Everybody in the dance world (including the legendary Marge Champion, looking fabulous) was here. Eliot charmed the audience with his customary brilliance and Woody Allen-esque wit. Prima ballerina assoluta Cynthia Gregory was a gracious interviewer, and the chemistry they had four decades ago when he choreographed “At Midnight” for her was evident throughout.
