FX’s Archer is the most profanely funny and compulsively quotable show currently on the tube. Boasting a peerless ensemble of voice actors headed by the blustering H. Jon Benjamin and including various Arrested Development alumni, Archer could stand as an audio-only radio play, but the beautiful retro animation brings Archer’s world of spies and those who shag them to glorious life…it’s like a moving Silver Age comic book written by Michael O’Donoghue and Mitchell Hurwitz. In actuality the brainchild of Adam Reed, Archer is, at heart, a richly layered, quirky character study, rife with callbacks and sparky interactions and laden with the kind of subtle detail that rewards repeat viewings.
