WHEEL OF FORTUNE: PHILADELPHIA SHOW: WEEK 1 {VANNA WHITE'S DEBUT} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of daytime game shows in which three contestants take turns spinning a large wheel marked with money denominations for a chance to guess the letters of a mystery word or phrase. After a contestant solves the puzzle, his or her winnings are used to purchase prizes displayed in a themed showroom. In this program, which takes place in Philadelphia, host Pat Sajak introduces the new female host, Vanna White. He then talks to the contestants, champion Robin, Louis and Linda. The first puzzle is a title, and Robin solves it: “General Hospital.” She then selects from the various prizes. Next is a quotation, solved by Louis: “One little, two little, three little Indians.” He makes his prize choices, and announcer Jack Clark highlights other available winnings. Next is a phrase: “sign on the dotted line.” In the bonus round, Louis plays for a trip to London, but fails to come up with “George Bernard Shaw” and misses out. At the end of the show, Sajak takes a brief tour around Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square, pointing out its exceptional architecture, including the famous Barclay Hotel, where the “Wheel” staff is saying. He and White then bid the audience good night. Commercials deleted.
