Media Council and PwC Present

Connecting with the Next Generation Entertainment Consumer

May 8, 2013
6:00 – 9:30 PM
Los Angeles

The entertainment and media industry is under constant pressure to create, deliver, and market the next big hit during a time when driving profit is increasingly difficult and consumer preferences, technology, and distribution options are evolving. Creative and financial risks are higher than ever, and while technology is presenting challenges, it is also creating opportunities to make more informed decisions, improve user experience, and develop new revenue streams. How should the industry engage audiences who are more technologically savvy and demand access to entertainment content on their preferred digital platforms and devices?

Alex Carloss, global head of entertainment partnerships, YouTube, joined the Paley Center in Beverly Hills on May 8, followed by a panel discussion including, Melva Benoit, SVP, Analytics Innovation Research and Strategy, Fox Broadcasting Company; Sean Besser, EVP of Business Development, Partnerships & Strategy, GetGlue; Pete Distad, SVP Marketing and Distribution, Hulu; and Blair Westlake, CVP Media and Entertainment, Microsoft.

Alex Carloss is global head of entertainment partnerships at YouTube, based in Beverly Hills. Prior to joining YouTube, Carloss was EVP & GM, worldwide digital distribution for Paramount Pictures, where he set up and managed the studio’s feature film digital distribution over the internet, including download-to-own, video-on-demand, subscription and free video-on-demand, as well as original content marketing and distribution. Carloss has almost two decades of entertainment experience, spanning North America, Europe and Australia, with a focus on building consumer-focused businesses within the digital entertainment space. He previously held posts at Electronic Arts, Warner Bros, Walt Disney and MGM.

This event, as part of our ongoing executive dinner series with PwC, explored insights on consumer attitudes and behaviors in the rapidly changing media landscape.
