JACK PAAR SHOW, THE {EXCERPT} {FIDEL CASTRO} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of late-night talk/variety programs hosted by Jack Paar. This tape features an excerpt from a program co-hosted by Dick Van Dyke and Joey Bishop. Following Van Dyke and Bishop's comic banter, crooner Betty Johnson sings "Love Makes the World Go Round." The highlight of the program is an interview taped one week earlier in which Paar interviews Cuban dictator Fidel Castro at the Havana Hilton, where Castro makes his home, in an attempt to get to know the leader's personality. This excerpt includes the first of the interview's three segments. Castro speaks in halting English about the following: the importance of American public opinion to him; his popularity in the United States; and his nine-year-old son and the influence of television and the media on children. Includes commercials. Commercials include Hugh Downs for Green Mint mouthwash, and Dick Van Dyke for Postum caffeine-free beverage and Mennen Afta after-shave/conditioner.
