With this program, the Paley Center and Knight Foundation will convene a community of change agents, doers, and leaders who are innovating in local TV news across broadcast and digital platforms—and across the country—with a view to informing their local communities, while also adhering to rigorous standards of journalistic excellence. The goal of this program is to ask: In an environment where public trust in local TV remains high, can local TV newsrooms—inclusive of broadcast, websites, apps, social channels, streaming—rise to the challenge of producing news and information for their communities, first and foremost? What are the stakes in keeping their communities informed? How do they plan to serve them? How do they balance concern for democracy against often competing commercial considerations?
