ADDAMS FAMILY, THE: COUSIN ITT VISITS THE ADDAMS FAMILY (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about the ghoulish Addams family.
Morticia and Gomez are excited to discover that Cousin Itt is coming to visit them. They are first visited by Park Commissioner Fiske, who is opening a new zoo. Gomez pledges financial support for the zoo before Fiske is frightened away by the Addamses. Itt visits and is welcomed by the Addamses, entertaining them with his jokes and magic tricks. Gomez and Morticia get the idea to get Cousin Itt a job at Fiske’s new zoo due to his way with animals. Fiske takes one look at Itt and mistakes him for some kind of animal, carrying him away in chains to be put in an exhibit.
Fester visits the zoo and returns to report on Itt’s captivity, mistaking it for an executive position in a “big office with fancy ironwork in front of it.” The Addamses hear on the radio that a strange animal has escaped from the zoo and they pull out rifles to protect the house. Cousin Itt arrives at their door just as they hear on the radio that the “beast” has entered their house. Fiske enters and identifies Itt as the “monster,” but the Addamses assume he is delusional from work-related stress. Itt finally reveals that he was caged up and the Addamses are furious; Fiske realizes that Itt is their cousin and not an animal, much to his shock. However, Itt surprises the Addamses by revealing he actually liked his captivity and merely returned to pick up his hairbrushes. The Addamses try to apologize but Fiske wants nothing more to do with them and hurriedly leaves. Commercials deleted.
