TRUE BLOOD: I WILL RISE UP (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series based on the “Southern Vampire Mysteries” book series by Charlaine Harris about the quirky residents of a small Louisiana town where a young woman – deemed a freak because she can read minds -- falls in love with a vampire.
In this episode, Luke detonates the bomb in Godric's Dallas nest, wiping out humans and vampires alike. Eric saves Sookie, who then finds Jason in the rubble. After Bill tells Lorena that she's dead to him, he sees Sookie sucking silver fragments from Eric's body. Sookie is furious to learn that Eric only pretended to be dying, and that by having swallowed his blood, the two share a psychic connection. Bill regretfully tells her that she may now find herself sexually attracted to Eric. Later, Sookie and Jason reminisce about their past, then watch TV as Nan Flanagan takes on Steve and Sarah Newlin, accusing them of orchestrating the bombing. When Sookie finally falls asleep, she has an erotic dream about Eric.
In Bon Temps, Maryann cheers on Tara and Eggs for having blacked out the night before and being out of control. Likewise, Arlene and Terry can't remember what happened while under Maryann's control. Arlene then discusses Daphne's murder with Lafayette. Elsewhere at Merlotte's, Hoyt promises to introduce Jessica to his mother. When Eggs arrives there with Tara, Lafayette accuses him of having beaten up his cousin, leading to a fight between the men. Hoyt then goes home, where Maxine explains why she's against his romance with Jessica.
The next morning, Maryann arrives at the police station, where she takes control of Bud before letting Bon Temp's citizens out of their cells. Maryann is furious upon discovering that Sam has already escaped, having turned himself into a fly. Maryann consoles herself by getting drunk with Tara and Eggs. However, Lafayette and Lettie Mae show up to get Tara away from Maryann. They forcibly carry off a screaming Tara. When Maxine meets with Jessica at Merlotte's, she reveals that she's against their union; Jessica runs away crying. Hoyt then says he won't be coming home anymore. Maxine watches as Maryann subsequently appears, demanding that Sam be brought to her. Across town, Andy hears a knock on his door, and discovers a naked Sam begging to come in.
Back in Dallas, Nan fires Godric from his sheriff's position. Godric explains that he had offered himself as a hostage to the Fellowship of the Sun members to make things better. He promises to make amend for the massacre, then excuses himself. Before Eric can follow Godric, Bill says that they have a score to settle and punches him. Later, Eric breaks down when hearing that Godric intends to sacrifice himself at daybreak. Sookie promises to stay with Godric till the end, watching tearfully as he is burned up by the sun's rays.
