WALKER, TEXAS RANGER: THE CHILDREN OF HALLOWEEN (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic action series about the crime-fighting adventures of Cordell Walker of the Texas Ranger Division.
In this episode, as Halloween approaches, Walker and Trivette stop a bunch of gun-toting "gorilla" robbers after they shoot up a convenience store. Elsewhere, several children become trapped in a basement and are told that they will meet their end that evening. One week earlier, Malloy teaches his karate class and chats with the parents of a student, Joey. Joey heads out with his friends, but after following a mysterious voice calling for help, he is grabbed by a frightening man. Trivette tries to persuade Walker to try out a "Lethal Weapon"-themed costume with him, but they soon learn of the kidnapping and head out to form a search party. They soon find a pentagram symbol left where Joey was taken. Two young girls are then grabbed under similar circumstances; at the HOPE Center, Cahill bonds with a troubled teenager, Melissa, who has shown a propensity for thievery.
Malloy, wanting to assist with the case, teams up with Sandoval and begins interviewing locals who have been accused of Satanic-themed crimes in the past. The mysterious man's female sidekick begs him to "do one tonight," and a terrified man is soon brought before "Lucifer," begging his forgiveness for his betrayal. Lucifer coldly executes him. In the basement, Joey tries to comfort the frightened young girls, and another boy, Tony, is soon grabbed and brought to join the others. With four children now missing, Walker and Trivette visit an occult shop, where the proprietress, Cassandra, tells them that the pentagram symbol refers to a "blood sacrifice." After they defend her from some rowdy customers, Cassandra adds that Lucifer purchased a book on rituals from her; she provides them with his address. When they visit the house, they find it abandoned and covered with eerie symbols – and also booby-trapped, as Trivette discovers when he accidentally sets off a laser trip wire and is narrowly rescued by Walker before the house explodes.
Malloy and Sandoval continue going down their list and search for Belinda Jordan at "Hell's Belles," a strip club, while Walker and Trivette learn that David Thompson, a.k.a. "Lucifer," has a long history of violent behavior and religious delusions. Lucifer then grabs Melissa at the HOPE House. When Cahill tries to rescue her, Lucifer and his sidekick bring her along as well. Walker reads through the occult book and realizes that Lucifer intends to conduct a murderous "ritual of ascension" in a graveyard at midnight on Halloween – that very night. Another Hell's Belles employee tells Malloy and Sandoval that her friend, who now goes by "Belial," has been spending time with "that creep" and living at a farmhouse. The Rangers split up to search the nearby farmhouses adjacent to graveyards. Walker shows up just in time before Lucifer "bequeaths" a restrained Cahill, then tackles his various cohorts before freeing the children. When Lucifer attempts to escape, he ends up falling on his own ritualistic dagger, much to Belial's distress. Later, Melissa joins Malloy's karate class and befriends Joey. Walker politely turns down Cassandra's advances before reuniting with Cahill. Commercials deleted.
