FRESH OFF THE BOAT: MIRACLE ON DEAD STREET (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, inspired by the memoir by chef Eddie Huang, about a Taiwanese immigrant family and their attempts to build a "perfect" American life in 1990s Florida.
In this episode, Louis eagerly prepares for his first official suburban Halloween, though Jessica, not a fan of the holiday, is more interested in the investment property that she and Honey have recently renovated. Jerry is intimidated by a gang of sharp-tongued teen boys, though Jessica boldly stands up to them; elsewhere, Louis is disheartened to learn that their cul-de-sac is considered a "dead street" for trick-or-treaters. Jessica turns to the cops when the teens exact childish revenge on her, though Officer Bryson reminds her that harmless pranks are to be expected on Halloween. Louis attends the local homeowners' meeting and gives a rousing speech about reforming their street into an ideal haven for costumed candy-seekers. Jessica finds herself outwitted when she tries to prevent the mischievous teens' antics.
Eddie, dressed as rapper Humpty Hump, is forced to take Emery and Evan along as he heads out with his friends, and although Louis, a.k.a. Mr. T., assures Jessica that they can merely clean up any messes in the morning, Jessica resolves to protect the investment property from the teenagers' wrath. She finds herself guarding the house alone when Honey heads off to a costume party with Marvin; Louis, happily handing out candy on his no-longer-dead street, soon reconsiders and picks up his sons and their friends, declaring that they must "save" their mother. Once at the renovated house, Eddie gets an idea and summons the only thing that can scare the rowdy teen boys: teen girls, who quickly decimate the would-be pranksters with several devastating comments. Jessica, pleased by the victory, finally gets into the Halloween spirit and heads off trick-or-treating with her family – unaware that the investment property has been invaded by much smaller troublemakers. Includes commercials and promos.
