BARCLAYS BANK: DINGHY {BAFTA: ADVERTISING AWARDS
1992, TAPE 1 OF 2}

Summary

In this commercial for Barclays Bank, two sailors are shown at sea in a rubber dinghy. As an officer, played by Rowan Atkinson, peers across the moonlit waters through an impressive pair of high-powered Austrian binoculars, the seaman at his side wonders if he bought them with his BarclayCard. He proceeds to explain that purchases made with a BarclayCard are insured against theft or loss for one hundred days from the date of purchase. "In case they get stolen?" the officer replies. "And who's going to steal them exactly? Are we about to get mugged by a gang of delinquent haddock?" Moments later, he accidentally knocks the binoculars overboard. Slogan (supered): "BarclayCard. It does more than you'd credit."
