I LOVE LUCY: LUCY GOES TO SCOTLAND (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedies about the escapades of Lucy Ricardo, a zany redheaded housewife with show business aspirations, her Cuban-born bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, and their best friends and neighbors Fred and Ethel Mertz.

Lucy wants to track down her mother’s relatives, the McGillicuddys, in Scotland, but Ricky disapproves of the idea. That night, Lucy dreams of visiting the town of Kildoonan. In her dream, the town is menaced by a two-headed dragon that arrives every thirty years to eat a member of the McGillicuddy clan. This year, no McGillicuddys are left, spelling certain doom for the town (“Tis Nae a Braw Bricht Nicht”). Lucy arrives and the townsfolk are pleased to hear that she is a McGillicuddy, asking her to prove it with a traditional “sword dance.” Lucy’s inability to perform the dance is proof enough; the McGillicuddys are infamous for their poor dancing ability.

The cheerful greetings of the townsfolk soon turn sinister (“A McGillicuddy is Here”) and Lucy gets nervous. Ricky appears, cast in Lucy’s dream as a Scotsman, and is assigned to look after Lucy until the dragon arrives. However, Ricky falls for her and tells her the truth (“I’m in Love with the Dragon’s Dinner”). They decide to try and reason with the dragon to persuade it not to eat Lucy.

Meanwhile, the two-headed dragon (bearing Ethel and Fred’s faces) argues with itself (“Two Heads are Nae Better than One”). Lucy and Ricky arrive and quickly discover that the dragon cannot be reasoned with and intends on eating Lucy. They go back to town and Ricky resolves to fight the dragon on her behalf. They share what could be their last moments together (“Dragon Waltz”). When the dragon finally appears, Ricky has second thoughts and tries to back out of fighting the dragon. Before she can be dragged to her doom, Lucy awakens from her dream and yells at the real-world Ricky for being a “coward.” Commercials deleted.
