DYNASTY: CATCH 22 {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this night-time serial about the wealthy Carrington family of Denver, Colorado.
Blake and Alexis comfort a bedridden Fallon. They say they no longer wish to feud amongst themselves. Dex and Sable talk about how she’s pregnant with his child. Alexis brings up Blake’s secret Nazi art collection; she wants half of it as she feels it’s rightfully hers, and will try to get the rest in court if Blake refuses. He wishes to keep it all a secret, since knowledge of its existence would besmirch the family name. Meanwhile, Jeff and Dex interrogate Zorelli about his investigation concerning Roger Grimes. Zorelli turns the tables around on Jeff and Dex, asking them about them snooping around the lake and accuses them of pulling him off the case. They collectively realize that Captain Handler is behind the whole thing and Zorelli wants their help in bringing him down.
Sable tells Monica that she revealed to Dex that she’s pregnant with his child. She hopes to ruin Colby Co in court. Fallon has been having drams concerning a music box from her childhood, and believes Krystina can help her locate it. Alexis visits Sable and Monica; she has kept her end of their bargain by relenting on trying to get Blake arrested, and expects Sable to drop the charges against Colby Co. Sable refuses until Alexis reveals that she found out about the secret art collection and wants to use it as leverage against Sable; their discussion erupts into an argument.
Sammy Jo is still having trouble with Tanner; she feels as though she can’t stay with him. Sable tells Blake that she’s dropping her lawsuit. Dex enters and reveals that Dennis Grimes, Roger Grimes’s son, is out of prison. Zorelli and Jeff infiltrate Handler’s apartment, finding a recording of Zorelli’s discussions with Fallon, proving their theory. Meanwhile, Krystina brings Fallon to an old abandoned mineshaft in search of her music box. Fallon discovers it alongside Blake’s secret art collection. To her surprise, Dennis Grimes arrives, intent on getting revenge for the murder of his father.
Jeff and Zorelli meet with Blake about their findings on Handler. When Blake finds out that Fallon and Krystina haven’t returned home, he realizes that they have stumbled upon his art collection and takes Jeff with him to investigate. Handler has a secret meeting with an unseen person who is scheming to take the art collection. Dex visits Alexis in her bath; she is still bitter because he slept with Sable. He tries to patch up their relationship but she coldly throws him out. Before he leaves, he returns the deed to the property she gave him.
Monica is displeased that Sable let Alexis off the hook, but Sable wants to raise her baby in an environment without vendettas or scheming. Dennis holds Fallon and Krystina captive in the mineshaft. She convinces him to untie her and fights him off, stealing his gun and shooting him in the shoulder. The gunshot causes the mineshaft to partially collapse, knocking Fallon unconscious. Blake and Jeff return to the mansion to find police everywhere; Handler obtained a search warrant and is upstairs. Furious, Blake goes to see Handler and demands that he returns Fallon and Krystina. Handler sees Blake in private.
Tanner and Sammy Jo talk; they are still in love but cannot fully engage in it because of their prior commitments and shame at what they are doing. Zorelli finds out Handler is at the Carrington mansion and races to get there. Handler tries to blackmail Blake into giving him the art collection in exchange for Fallon and Krystina. Blake becomes even more outraged when he discovers they are being held by Dennis. Jeff enters just as Handler pulls a gun on Blake. With Jeff’s help, Blake knocks down Handler and gets the gun away from him. Handler reveals Fallon and Krystina’s location and Blake wants him to take him there.
Alexis walks in on Adam, Monica, and Sable negotiating the contract just as Monica slaps Adam for the photograph of her and Jeff. Blake holds Handler at gunpoint, trying to get him to escort him out of the mansion so as to avoid suspicion. In the mineshaft, Krystina finally awakens Fallon. They futilely work to free themselves. Unbeknownst to them, Dennis still lives.
Alexis signs the contract just as Dex arrives. Dex berates both Alexis and Sable for their various schemes. He reveals that Sable is carrying his child, much to Alexis’s surprise. When Adam makes one disparaging comment too many, Dex goes berserk and they get into a fight. In the ensuing struggle, Dex and Alexis are hurtled through the balcony to the floor below. Zorelli arrives and a shootout ensues. In the process, Blake and Handler are both shot. The episode concludes as Jeff, standing over Blake’s motionless body, orders that an ambulance be called for. Includes commercials. Also includes an ABC News Brief.
