HERE'S LUCY: LUCY'S PUNCTURED ROMANCE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series starring Lucille Ball as Lucy Carter, a single mother working for her brother-in-law Harry at his employment agency.
Lucy has a new boyfriend, a man named Bob Collins who she met in the supermarket. Both of them seem quite taken with each other, but trouble starts when Mr. Larson, the milkman, confides in Kim that he’s seen women going in and out of Bob’s apartment, leading him to believe that Bob is a “swinger.” Kim tries to talk to Lucy about this, but she won’t hear any of it.
Kim secretly talks to Harry about it and they hatch a scheme to scare off Bob by pretending to be a “bunch of nuts” and to make it seem as though Lucy is anxious to get married. That night Harry and Kim arrive and make Lucy believe that Bob has a hearing problem. Kim and Harry greet Bob and attempt to make him nervous by showing him Lucy’s wedding dress, and Lucy talks loudly and over-enunciates in order to compensate for his “hearing problem.” They continue deceiving Bob about Lucy’s habits and personality in order to make her sound unappealing. The final straw comes when Kim secretly adds a dangerous amount of spicy sauce to Bob’s hors d’oeuvre, forcing him to run off when he eats it.
Lucy soon discovers the deception by testing the hors d’oeuvres. Everyone sits down and sorts the whole situation out. Lucy already knew about the women in Bob’s apartment; they are cosmetics saleswomen working for Bob. Pandemonium soon breaks out when Mary Jane arrives in a masquerade costume, and Lucy accidentally sets off half the appliances in the house. The fire department breaks in because Lucy accidentally left the roast in the oven too long. Despite all the chaos, Bob seems quite unfazed. Commercials deleted.
