TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL: AN UNEXPECTED SNOW (TV)
Summary
One in this series about two angels, Monica and Tess, who help mortals who have lost their direction in life and their faith in God. In this episode, two women, lawyer Susana and photographer Megan, get into a minor car accident on a mountain road and begin squabbling about culpability. Monica and Tess arrive and invite the pair to stay at their newly "constructed" home nearby, pointing out that the following day is Thanksgiving. The women accept the invitation with some trepidation, impatient to get back to their lives, and Monica is taken aback when Adam joins them, feeling that the angel of death will interfere with the women's "destiny." The quintet shares an uncomfortable dinner, and it is soon revealed that Susana and Megan unknowingly love the same man. In the morning, Adam tells the women that their car repairs will take some time, though when Tess points out a turkey, Adam is reluctant to "send him to his reward." Susana and Megan's animosity begins to fade when Megan playfully photographs her after she tumbles into a pond, and they swap stories about Susana's oblivious husband and Megan's "complicated" boyfriend.
Tess and Monica are pleased to see the change, though Susana's husband Jack then arrives in search of her, and Megan is stunned to recognize her married lover, though she pretends not to know him. Jack, though uncomfortable, agrees to join the others for Thanksgiving dinner, and Monica confronts Megan about the affair, comparing the situation to "an unexpected snow." During dinner, Jack privately corners Megan, who accuses him of misrepresenting the likable Susana and feigning an intention to leave her. At Monica's request, Tess sings "What is This Thing Called Love," and Megan is heartbroken to see the couple beginning to rekindle their love for one another. Monica tries to set her straight with some tough love about the immorality of cheating, and Megan realizes that the car crash was no accident as Monica reveals her heavenly status and assures her that there is "better love for her" out there with someone else.
The next day, Adam admits that he did not kill the turkey after all, and Tess confronts Jack about his affair, telling him in no uncertain terms to rethink his actions and work on his marriage. Humbled by her words, Jack ends things with Megan, with both of them agreeing that the "chance encounter" on the road was for the best. As the guests prepare to depart, Susana reveals that she figured out the truth about Megan and Jack, but intends to forgive both her husband and her new friend in time, glad to have the secret out in the open. Satisfied with their work, Monica, Tess and Adam head off to their next mission. Commercials deleted.
