SPIN CITY: MONKEY BUSINESS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the Deputy Mayor of New York City and his co-workers at City Hall as they deal with problems both professional and personal. It's Christmastime, and everyone is making preparations. Ghana is presenting the Central Park Zoo with a chimpanzee named Bobo, who is reportedly highly intelligent. Stuart and Carter have nowhere to go for Christmas and Carter suggests they spend the holiday with each other. Bobo arrives at the mayor's office and seems offended when Michael insults him. Stuart and Carter meet a pair of elderly roommates named Lloyd and Alfred who act exactly like them. The mayor gets into an argument with his staff over the design of the office Christmas card. During a press conference with Bobo, James and the mayor get Michael to apologize to him, but Michael soon retracts his apology, making Bobo upset once again. Carter and Stuart invite Alfred and Lloyd over to their apartment. They are shocked when Lloyd and Alfred kiss under the mistletoe and explain that they became a couple after living together for many years, calling it "inevitable." Stuart is horrified at the prospect that the same could happen to him and vehemently denies any hint of homosexuality around the office, even cancelling his dinner with Carter. Michael finds Bobo waiting for him in the mayor's office, seemingly challenging him to a game of chess. Michael accepts, apparently impressed by Bobo's tactics, and soon becomes engrossed in the game. Carter teases Stuart about his recent behavior, but Stuart seems to admit that living with Carter has changed him. Stuart then seems to admit that he's fallen for Carter, but quickly reveals it to be only a ruse to get back at him. Michael wins the chess game and Bobo is upset. Michael comforts Bobo. Stuart ends up deciding to spend Christmas with Carter after all. Carter imagines himself and Stuart as an elderly couple, which seems to unnerve him. The episode ends as Stuart announces he is taking Carter to see a nude version of "A Christmas Carol." Includes commercials.
