FRASIER: HALLOWEEN (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about Frasier Crane, a divorced psychiatrist who lives in Seattle and hosts a phone-in radio show.

In this episode, everyone prepares to attend a literature-themed Halloween party. Niles is taken aback to learn that Daphne and Frasier recently had an amusing adventure together, visiting a microbrewery and then staying in a motel overnight. At the studio, Frasier scolds a frazzled Roz for bungling several calls; she confesses that she is distracted because she may be pregnant. At the party, Niles, as Cyrano de Bergerac, learns that Maris has suffered a disastrous haircut and will not be attending; Martin, as Sherlock Holmes, quickly grows exasperated with Frasier and Niles' snooty friends. Roz, dressed as the scandalous O from "The Story of O," confides in The Wife of Bath, Daphne, about her "accident," though Daphne misunderstands and believes that she has had car trouble. Niles overhears her conversation with Frasier, a.k.a. Geoffrey Chaucer, about Roz's situation, and, mistakenly believes that Daphne is pregnant with Frasier's child. He is outraged when Frasier begins flirting with another party guest, "Eve."

Frasier is baffled when his brother angrily confronts him about the baby, protesting that he is not at fault; he grows annoyed with "blabbermouth" Daphne for apparently spilling the beans. Martin overhears the gossip and is shocked to learn from a drunken Niles that Frasier is "the father." Niles declares that he will "do the honorable thing" and propose to Daphne in his caddish brother's place, regardless of the fact that he is still married to Maris. All of the other guests listen in shock as Niles, further misunderstanding Frasier's apparently heartless comments to Daphne about her false eyelashes, loudly denounces his irresponsible behavior and asks for Daphne's hand. She explains that his "gallant" actions are unwarranted, as she is not pregnant. Roz, however, having just spoken to her doctor, reveals that she, in fact, is with child. Commercials deleted.
