Summary

One in this late-late night rock music series. Host Helen Reddy introduces Gladys Knight & the Pips, singing “I’ve Got to Use My Imagination” and “You Are the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me.” Next, a video of Kiki Dee and Elton John singing “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” is shown. Reddy sings “I Can’t Hear You No More” before Elvin Bishop is introduced, performing “I Fooled Around and Fell In Love.” Wolfman Jack brings Phil Walden, president of Capricorn Records, to the stage to give Bishop a golden record for the song. Next there is a salute to singer Harry Chapin. He discusses his musical background and philosophy, accompanied by snippets of his songs, including “Cat’s in the Cradle,” “Taxi,” “Mail Order Annie,” “Sniper,” and “She Sings Songs Without Words.” B.B. King appears to sing “When I’m Wrong,” followed by Reddy with “Gladiola.” Next is Flora Purim with “Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly.” Bishop returns to sing “I’m Struttin’ My Stuff” and “Joy.” Reddy interviews Purim, asking about her recent release from prison. Reddy sings “Ladychain” before King returns with “Everybody Lies a Little.” Reddy closes the episode with “I Am Woman.” Commercials deleted.
